Rio Tinto’s Best of Utah – Women’s Gymnastics

WEST VALLEY CITY – Maverik Center is set to host the final edition of the Rio Tinto Best of Utah on Monday, Jan. 15. The podium event features the four NCAA gymnastics programs in the state of Utah – Brigham Young University, Southern Utah, Utah State and the University of Utah – for the fifth year in a row.

RIO TINTO BEST OF UTAH

Utah has won the past four competitions at the Maverik Center against its in-state competition. The Red Rocks finished third at the 2023 NCAA Championships for the third year in a row. Maile O’Keefe, a fifth year senior, won the NCAA All-Around and Beam titles last season. She is the first Red Rock since 1999 to win the national all-around title. Southern Utah finished the 2023 season ranked 21st in the nation. The Thunderbirds placed third in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional after finishing ahead of #12 Auburn in the second round.  BYU reached the first round of the NCAA Los Angeles Regional last season. BYU returns back-to-back MRGC beam specialist of the year Elease Rollins, who ranked 28th in the nation on beam last season. Utah State returns top all-arounder Brianna Brooks from last season, and have added Arizona State transfer Juliette Boyer, who was a 2020 All-Pac-12 honorable mention all-arounder.
